Decatur Art & Folk Roots Music Camp

Fiddler and passionate, long time Atlanta area music educator Moira Nelligan joins forces with the renowned artist/art instigator Sylvia Cross to bring your kids a summer of arts and music to remember!

Super conveniently located at Downtown Decatur's Sycamore Place Gallery, Sylvia will run the morning sessions for ages 4-11 and Moira will take over with Music/Dance and Folk Arts for ages 8 to 14 1:00-4:00 (ext. day available).  Ages 8 to 11 are age-appropriate for both camps and  can do morning art AND afternoon music camps.

Each week of folk roots camp will have a different theme but every week kids will get a chance to listen to, explore, and experiment with fiddle, accordion, guitar, ukulele, percussion and tin whistle. There will be a lot of singing too! Campers  will get to collaborate and perform with others.

Awarded the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program Grant from the Georgia Council of the Arts as Master Artist, Moira loves to inspire kids with beautiful music. Campers will be exposed to Irish, Americana, and World folk music which will be sung and played live for and with the kids on different instruments every day. Kids can also learn basic folk dancing like the Irish jig, Cajun 2 step and basic clogging steps.

Art projects will be part of the music camps and Moira will visit the Art camp each week with interactive music demos as well.
